computer lineup About This Site

Several years ago a friend of mine who was an experienced developer was considering taking a job as a unit test engineer.   He asked if I might be able to give him a brief introduction to test engineering. I gladly agreed and started pulling together some notes on the subject.   Before I could get very far, he took a job with the government doing something other than test engineering.

Fast forward a couple of years, and I'm at work trying to find a good template for a test report. It's not like I haven't done test reports before, I just didn't have ready access to a clean template to start with for this particular test effort. It's at that time that it dawned on me. I needed to pull together my notes and some clean templates, and put them online. So, here we are. This site exists for your benefit and mine.

Test Engineering can mean different things to different people.  If you're looking for information concerning testing at the chip level, then I'm sorry to say that you won't find much here.  That's for two reasons; first, testing at the component level is beyond my experience, and second, it involves a whole different set of tools, resources, and techniques. The information on this site covers unit, integration, and system level testing of software, and system level testing of hardware.  Very soon, I hope to add more hardware related information, as well as advanced test notes.

Please remember that this site is still a work in progress. I'm adding new items nearly every day. If you don't find what you need please check back soon, or email me at greg@testengineering.info.
